Join a special guided tour at Silverstream Alpaca Stud, where you’ll meet rare, friendly, and curious alpacas up close. You’ll have the chance to feed, pet, and take photos with these beautiful animals. Baby alpacas (crias) may even be available for cuddles and pictures during certain seasons.
The tour is led by the owner, Kit, who shares fun stories and insights about these unique animals. Enjoy Silverstream’s lush gardens, lawns, and riverside views, where you’re welcome to stay as long as you like. The tour wraps up with a visit to the fleece shed, where you can feel award-winning alpaca fleece, and the trophy room and shop, where you’ll find soft alpaca garments.
With over 23 years of experience, Silverstream is known for breeding top-quality alpacas whose genetics are recognized worldwide. It’s a memorable, educational experience that lets you relax and soak up the natural beauty of this special place.

LOVED our visit!
What a wonderful experience! I was a bit nervous that our 18 month old would be afraid because she hasn’t been around alot of larger animals but the gentle alpacas at Silverstream made her feel quite at ease and she really enjoyed patting and feeding them. Our guide was excellent and we learned so much about Alpacas and their wool. Would 100% recommend. Definitely hope to go back again!

Great morning
I enjoyed hearing how the farm came to be and seeing, holding, feeding, patting them all. Such cute characters. Then into the shearing shed and into the shop. So glad I did it.

Great Fun for the Kids
I throughly enjoyed taking the kids to see the Alpaca's! Kit's talk at the start was interesting and informative and our guide was friendly, fun and also gave us alot facts! Was a really good tour and would recommend to anyone looking for an outing! The Alpacas were cute and we had a lot of fun feeding them and hanging out.

Wholesome experience
We jumped onto BookMe to look at some options for activities for the school holidays dns came across the Alpaca Experience. We live in North Canterbury and had never heard of it before and both kids love animals so gave it a go. Was really sweet and intimate with a generous amount of time to hang out with the animals, plus we learnt heaps. It was the added bonus of being a beautiful sunny day so was really lovely.

Well worth it
